Nina Richmond
Nina Richmond’s honest vocal interpretations have earned her high praise and accolades from her musician peers and audiences alike. According to her late mother, Nina was singing before she was talking! Although well versed in many musical styles, from Broadway to Rhythm and Blues, Nina really excels in her exciting and sensitive renderings of swing tunes and Sinatra-esque standards from The Great American Songbook. She has been the featured singer with the Advocats Big Band since its inception. Since 2004, Nina has been singing with the Advocats on the first Monday of every month at Seven44 (formerly the Chick’n’Deli), Whistler's Grille and, since 2018, at The Duke Toronto. Nina is the featured vocalist in the jazz quintet, Fifth Element. You can also hear her singing in the R&B band, the Tokyo Giants, the 60s 70s and 80s pop cover band, The Way Back, and in a duo with pianist, Jack Gelbloom. She has performed at high-profile events such as the Beaches International Jazz Festival, the Angel Ball for Providence Centre, the annual Eat to the Beat event for Willow and AidsBeat. She is frequently asked to sing at private parties, weddings, bar mitzvahs and even the odd book launch. Her fabulous vocal prowess has been an intrinsic part of the Advocats experience! www.ninarichmond.com
